In the wake of the Epstein files – will there be an analog resurgence?

It does appear that hollywood/modeling is a major pipeline for these sorts of people - the role tech plays in this ecosystem also can't be understated.

Even with only a fraction of the 50% parsed through and understood - I can't bear the thought anymore that the money made off my back, is ultimately making somebody who strangles children after r*ping them (or his adjacent friends) richer. Even taking one moment to empathize with that level of pain and suffering - it makes ones blood boil.

If no justice is actually taken and people are not made to suffer for the barbarism - people will feel cheated and will want a way to "get back" even within the confines of capitalism via boycott. Old books, IRL activities, etc and trigger somewhat of an analog renaissance and return to local theatre even. It is downright and morally unethical to support the modern system as is.

Do you believe an analog resurgence could take place in the wake of these files?

I believe we are seeing an analog resurgence because computers are becoming less and less useful with time due to enshittification, and things aren't getting better any time soon. Sure, computers -can- do more than ever, but they don't want you to - every cent of Microsoft, Google, TikTok, Metabookstagram etc's R&D over the past decades has been towards reducing user agency so that behavior can be corralled into more profitable patterns for the owners. Eventually that's all normal people find themselves doing on computers anymore, and they realize they're working someone else's clock, and disconnect. Those who don't disconnect will drown in it and become socially irrelevant - you won't see them. What you SEE will be the analog resurgence because those who are not partaking in said resurgence will be invisible. You don't "see" people spending $15/day on app backgammon. You don't "see" people spending 6 hours straight on TikTok - people act these kinds of ways in private.

You will "see" the analog resurgence, but you may not "see" the complete picture, in this way.

interesting take, do you think black swan events like Epstein and related political issues (namely the president, palantir, etc) could speed up the visible element of the resurgence?

I suppose my analog resurgence is really in the context of existing socio-cultural paradigms , not necessarily about a revulsion towards technology but recognizing that certain habits of consumption related to certain industries and products might be given up en masse as a protest towards the enabling of such a predator by so many powerful companies and their leaders.

No analog resurgence. It is digital file keeping that is keeping the cases alive, especially with bonehead redaction techniques.

"There are no secrets"

An infinitesimal number of digital records can be detroyed. But a world-wide sex, blackmail and money-laundering operation worth billions (?) cannot be concealed.

There's the Epstein Document Archive [0], and a mapping effort of Epstein's social network [1], using open source intelligence only.

As for the map:

> We included Epstein's entire, unredacted “black book,” as well as the flight logs for his private jet, the Lolita Express. We also examined several other ancillary networks known to have at least some overlap, including figures adjacent to Iran-Contra, September 11, and Ghislaine Maxwell's father, Robert Maxwell. Drawing from a range of sources, we considered 908 potentially related people and organizations, with 2,194 connections between them. After reviewing for accuracy and relevance, we focused on 209 entities (with 642 relationships) as most pertinent.

> Importantly, inclusion in our study does not imply guilt — indeed we have included people relevant to the current power struggle ranging from tech executives with no ties to Epstein, to victims. We aimed to reveal the networks currently in conflict, while also tempering speculation about the scope and nature of Epstein's activities. Here's what we learned.

The map is here (730k PNG) for enlargement.

Senator Ron Wyden is tracking down the money trail, as are people suing Bank of America for its records of financial transactions with the Epstein empire.

wow I never knew about any of this , this is incredible work. Honestly this makes me relieved, that there are some souls that are taking this work incredibly seriously to bring some justice.

Are there any efforts that are looking for active contributors right now? If you don't know then don't worry about it.

> London: A special taskforce will be set up in Poland to investigate a network of “scouts” who recruited girls for Jeffrey Epstein from across Europe, including one contact who told him of a dancer who had come from Queensland.

> Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said the investigation would also examine potential ties between Epstein and Russian spy agencies amid claims the convicted sex offender gathered compromising material on people he could blackmail.

This is outside the U.S. One recruiter is serving time in a country club for recruiting girls [1]

> Maxwell’s mixture of social access, targeted approaches to vulnerable workers, explicit grooming and financial inducements created a repeatable pipeline that prosecutors say expanded Epstein’s pool of victims and even turned some victims into recruiters themselves. (various means of attracting victims are discussed in the above article.)

Another possible means was via a modeling agency.
