Comma is my favorite “AI” company. Really incredible piece of tech in a tiny package, and it truly improves your life to have it.

I wish it worked with my Mitsubishi Outlander, but just having it on my Corolla is enough. Their supported brand list will definitely factor into my next car buying decision.

I like Comma. I like geohot (I wouldn't want to work for him I imagine it is intense) but I like the contrary attitude and also the product as seen as demoed on youtube.

He hasn't been running comma.ai since '22, and even left the board just in November.

sorry not been keeping up. thanks for the info

He (geohot) is still the President of Comma.ai and still owns the majority of the company.

His LinkedIn says he stopped being president in November. https://www.linkedin.com/in/george-hotz-b3866476 I haven't seen any other news about it.

Im shocked Hotz has a LinkedIn. That seems antithetical to his entire existence.

You're not wrong. Read his profile.

I used to joke about how I used LinkedIn as a dating site, but in the current year this just isn't that funny anymore. The professional managerial class I was mocking is quickly losing its grasp on power, so it's unclear if I'm still punching up.

How many of the messages here even come from real people anymore? How many of those people have pronouns in their bio? Are they GPT/GPT?

We have a big task ahead of us to define what the "new business" looks like. Comparatively, the revolution is the easy part.

He's not the type to run a company. He likes to work on code and he works on tinygrad a lot which comma.ai uses.

How did his efforts to make the modern AI stack work on top of AMD work out?

Try tinygrad on your AMD machine

The problem with geohot is that if there was Musk anounced a medical procedure where men could pay to get pregnant by him, geohot would empty his life savings and be first line line.

Seriously, read his blog, and ctrl-f Elon on any post.

How is the experience on the Corolla. How much can it do by itself?

What a coincidence, LTT tested it a few months ago in a Corolla. Here’s the video:

15 mins in. It's terrible. How is this allowed on the roads?

FWIW my experience has been very good, and LTT said recently that they are working on a long term review, so I expect that to be a more accurate review than first impressions when you aren't familiar with how it works.

Extremely good. You can go hands off for long periods.
