Sony and TCL expect that products produced by the new firm will carry the Sony and Bravia brands, while using TCL's display technology and manufacturing infrastructure.

Joint venture where TCL controls the majority with 51%. So what's one of those Bravia TVs then? The one I have in my living room has Google TV running, and pretty stock from what I can gather. So if the inside will be all TCL, then what's left?

One of the reasons I avoided TCL entirely was due to the reported backdoors[1]. Hopefully Sony has control over the software, but with TCL making the hardware who's to say they don't add some backdoor or ad-spying tech?
