The Copilot stuff has to be the largest expenditure of cultural capital in history. Eliminating so many extremely strong brand names in the name of promoting the Copilot brand. I wonder how they imagine it'll ever pay of...

It won't. All it ever serves is short term promotions and bonuses. If the damage is done, the causing fraction is already gone -- to another company believing their BS; retirement. No risk involved. The "risk" those people are highly compensated for is non-existent.

i guess these "manager MBAs" never want to hear forst for the trees?

I think there's some process in the MBA education system where they physically remove the part of the brain that can construct plans and models more than one financial quarter into the future.

Strong New Coke vibes.

Peak rage bait for HN. [0] It has already more karma than the reddit post itself.

Not that I’m saying what’s happening is good but one single user having problems opening their files not sure warrant a post here unless your goal is the rage bait.

0, And just one more proof that HN is not that different from most social media sites.

Why is it rage bait? How would you react if tomorrow your favorite browser updates and instead of showing you the webpages it just summarizes them?

Posting here is rage bait knowing the audience.

I’m not blaming the user but it’s single post from 15 days ago where one single user having problems opening their files. You _know why_ it is posted here

I think it's valuable to help my users if something like this happens to their office app and I have to find out how to turn it off

I'd ask online how to solve this billionth problem I've had with computers, get an answer, follow it and go on with my life, like I did when my OS updated and video files opened with MediaPlayer instead of VLC.

That didn't get thousands of upvotes, or any rage, let me tell you.

The problem is, everyone and their dog uses A/B testing these days. It's one thing if people opt in to be beta testers, but it's gotten routine to just use your users as unpaid, unwilling test subjects and hope for nothing to break so seriously they have to raise stink on social media to get support.

Did you remember to say please and thank you to copilot..../s

For a single user error, pbkac.
