I fell in love with the writing style of certain authors, like Stephen Crane, who managed to paint a vivid picture in your head with just a couple of sentences. I noticed that they used em dashes more frequently when compared to my native tongue, so since then I got the habit of doing the same in my writings.
When I learned that people created a link between them and LLMs I got a bit disappointed/sad inside, to prevent people assuming I'm using AI to talk to them I decided to decrease my usage of em dashes.
I still have the muscle memory of using u2014 to input an em dash whenever I feel appropriate but I erase it like you would fight an unconscious habit that you learned is no longer useful for you, like when you catch yourself biting your nails and stop it in the middle of the act.
Needless to say I really don't like this side effect of LLMs being so popular :(, but on the bright side it gave me the opportunity to consider that maybe I was used to using them too much
