What an appalling headline. OP should skulk back off to slashdot where they belong.

"So the verdict is clear. Disable Java plug-ins in all browsers, whether Firefox, Chrome or Internet Explorer. Java’s glory days are over and it’s time to pull the plug."

Well, make my bank have non-java web interface, then. Because while they are actually one of the better ones here [in Hungary], they still use a Java-based client.

(yes I can disable it in other browsers than my daily one and make it click-to-play but still. Can't live without it entirelly.)

When was it ever "needed"? What could not exist without Java?

Nothing. But that's true of every single programming language ever invented, so that doesn't tell us anything.

Flagged.

Misleading headline. Article is referring to Java plugin in the browser; Not Java, the technology.

The second sentence in the article's title "Pull the Plug-in" should be included.

Java is no longer needed
