Who Is Beej?

Recently there seem to be many submissions about "Beej's Guides to ... ".

I have not heard about him before (since I don't hang out on HN as much as many people.) Out of curiosity, I asked my offline LLM the question to see if he is part of the training data scraped by ChatCPT. The result is interesting. I am impressed.

Beej goes way back to a time before the web, before the internet, to a time when everything was bootstrapped.
