This is a great way to handle prices decreases: make sure that existing members don't feel ripped off (since they paid a higher price) by adding some extra months to the subscription length of those members.

Slightly better than:

I'm willing to bet people at large aren't willing to pay as much as the programmer community thought they would.

Especially to join a community full of programmers.

However programmers might find a social network of only programmers worth much more than $36 per year.

Seems like that ought to be sitting on top of github.

Seems like it already is, to a degree.

Still not paying to use something I can use for free and with millions of more users/activity.

So is App.net now worth $36 instead of $50 per person?

$60 if you pay monthly. 66% interest per annum? over a no deposit 12 monthly payment plan.

How about dropping the developer yearly price too?

I still won't be paying for it. May as well have raised the price as far as I'm concerned.

Edit: Obviously being downvoted by people who have wasted $50.
