Elon Musk defends $1T pay package

I wonder how he plans to 5x the companies valuation. Other EV manufactures are catching up and I believe that it's going to be a lot harder for Tesla to sell cars (or Robotaxis). They've failed Full Self Driving for so long now that it's basically a meme by now. Waymo shows it's possible - with the right equipment which does not seem to be a camera based system.

I have a potentially silly question: How far can he drive up the share price via stock buy-backs?

It's in nominal dollars and he will push the government into creating hyperinflation?

What's he talking about a "Robot Army" and having influence over it.

I'm sorry to be so old-fashioned but I think armies should be controlled by states, not private individuals.

Private individuals have learnt that the hard way through out history.

The pattern goes -

Kings and Queens get propped up not because the chimp troupe loves them, but because the village has to be defended from threats and some chimp has to be in charge of security ie find ways to pay for the upkeep of armies. Not a job for the faint of heart.

Sooner or later bankers, traders, industrialists etc etc all become richer than kings and queens, because they don't have to fund armies or deal with all the issues and temptations of having an army. They start wondering why they need to be bowing and bending to kings and queens.

And the story then writes its self, since there is only one way the kings and queens are programmed to react to threats.

I feel like this is just another pump and dump. The idea that Musk might be able to do something for Tesla that is worth a trillion dollars is the hype.

Could he do it? He’s older, there are some objective metrics in there I think outside of stock price(I think there are robotaxi metrics in there) so he can’t just to it by stock manipulation.

I’m skeptical. His time is more divided than it was during the first plan, this plan is much more ambitious than the first, and I’d question if his heart is even in it at this point.
