Highly recommended documentary Seeds of Time (2013) [0] on Dr. Cary Fowler at the FAO responsible for building the Spitsbergen/Svalbard Global Seed Vault [1]

I'd also recommend reading up on the Vavilov collection in St. Petersburg: an incredible history.

After hearing her opinion on leaf blowers, namely, that "they need to be eradicated from the earth"[0], this feels significantly less surprising

Why do we build a valut ? Because we destroy the seeds. So why not spend time avoiding destroying the seeds ?

The people destroying the seeds are not the ones building the vaults.

Who is destroying the seeds?!

Collectively, much like traffic, we all are.

Not even almost have I ever destroyed a seed, other than the times it was part of the food I consumed.

But I guess if they want to really keep some peanut seeds in a vault because I keep eating them then I guess that makes sense, to them.
