Beyond Enshittification: Hostile

That "Welcome" screen told you this was coming decades ago: you arrived at the new house you just bought and when you got to the door someone was already there, "Welcome", and instead of responding "Who the hell are you and what are you doing in my house" you thought "Oh, this place has built in servants? Sweet!"

This is the ultimate hazard of robots. The first step of autonomous cars is you believe they will take you where you want to go. The obvious next step is that they will take you where they want you to go.

At first AI answers your questions... Later AI will give you your questions.

An MSM report today says 1/3 of U.S. thinks the President and his policies are a manifestation of God's will, not a consequence of their vote and representative of the electorate.

The thrust of enshittification is vectored towards dark planet of theocracy, which will be populated by a new caste of indentured servants and human chattel. The engines producing this thrust, are the most powerful ever conceived and will soon be fully operational.

The oracle is a human disaster: Freedom is meaningless when you depend on machines to comprehend it.

Wow this is dark. I wish I could say you're wrong. But some version of this is where we seem to be headed. The scariest thing is how many people are not just indifferent to their gradual technological and political indenture but welcome it with open arms. On the tech side, I'm baffled every time I see people at work get excited about some new software feature that is obviously designed to lock them in and control them even more, sold on the most transparently bogus promises of some marginal benefit. No suspicion, no resistance.
