I'm not familiar with this event, do you have any links? Cursory internet search didn't reveal anything.
This is some info about the event. There was lots of people on Twitter angry about it. In the end it's mostly been forgotten by non-Rubyists, but Matz, DHH and others have brought it up in part due to recent events.
