Oracle is demanding money for VBox Extension Pack (2023)

We switch to Incus for all our dev environments and it has been a pleasure since then

From the comments: "Honestly, it's a shakedown like others have said. But to be frank, we found it much easier to just block oracle.com so it stops happening. It def generates some tickets for "I need to download java", but that's not technically "free" for enterprises either "

Oh no!

Oh wait, I don't really care. I still have VBox installed with a few machines but since Workstation 17 is free, I only use that. And it is faster than VBox.

So until Broadcom decices to make people pay for WS17, that is my pick.

You still have other options. https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Category:Virtualization

And if you have an old machine, put on Proxmox.

Bye bye VBOX!
