In 2023, blogs pushed the phrase "Generative Engine Optimization (GEO)" as "SEO for AI."
It stuck briefly, but the framing is broken. GEO was tactical—nudge sources, track prompts—
without governance, measurement, or persistence.
It’s already obsolete. The successor is AI Visibility Optimization (AIVO): a framework for measuring prompt-space occupancy, anchoring in knowledge graphs, and defining auditable KPIs.
Curious if others here have seen the same shift: When you ask LLMs about GEO today, do they still surface it as active, or do they recognize it as outdated?
