For those that can't be bothered with reading the article: The man was out after NFL, who shares office in the same building. He mistakenly went up the wrong elevator banks.

In a note the gunman claimed he had CTE, and later shot himself in the chest - I can only assume he did so, for the purpose of his brain being checked of CTE.

Blackrock may reconsider its lawsuit against UnitedHealth because at this point something can happen in their corporate HQ as well.

Corporates in USA needs to start thinking about self preservation and encode it into the way how they are doing business or they will go bankrupt out of fear. They may be rich enough to buy C-suites a security detail, but not rich enough to have a bodyguard for every single employee. And if employees are scared for their life they may stop doing things which ma have them killed. And it does not matter what C-suites want or if they will be fired. It might be more appealing to get fired than fired at.

It's Blackstone, not Blackrock. I see the latter in almost all comments online on this subject.

Buttle, not Tuttle.

And why do we care about them specifically? Why is an executive special and needs to be pointed out?

We're a capitalist society and executives are capitalist nobility - their lives are by definition more valuable than others, and their deaths more noteworthy (in that, by capitalist principles, they generate more profit for the media.)

Sort of like how on HN only certain notable people's deaths deserve a black banner, while most (even in tech) don't.

I see she ran the real estate trust there, likely buying up lots of single family homes above asking rate.

I wonder if she killed more people than Brian Thompson. Probably not.

According to the WSJ [1], she "was Blackstone’s global head of Core+ real estate, heading up less risky, lower-returning investments across Blackstone’s $325 billion property business".

And who were the other 3? Peasants? /s

Equal rights please, equal reporting please.

Edit: For those downvoting, please, do tell. Equal reporting can also apply to this.

Additionally, a better article to understand the situation can be located here[1], which focuses on the situation as a whole and puts most details in place as they are currently known with no favoritism to any specific individual:

(Apologies for the potential paywall if you regularly read Reuters, this can be fully viewed in reader mode)

One of the other 3 was Didarul Islam, an NYPD officer, born in Bangladesh, living in a working class neighborhood in the Bronx, who had 2 children and a pregnant wife. His death has received extensive press coverage, e.g. https://www.nytimes.com/2025/07/29/nyregion/nyc-shooting-pol...

Off topic but ran into this for anyone who may be interested, here's a view of the insides of one of the offices where a barricade of sofas was made to protect people inside:

Them pointing out a cop isn't any better, they always blast cop deaths over the media to try and portray them as heroes and pretend they have some especially dangerous job instead of the reality of most of them being state sponsored thugs.
