Mattel unveils first Barbie doll with type 1 diabetes

I am particularly looking froward to:

Lung cancer barbie, with her own hospital bed and mortuary.

Paraplegic barbie aned Quadriplegic barbie, with their own mobility scooters.

Heroin addicted Barbie, with her own sharps bin and safer injecting Paraphenalia.

Blind Barbie, with her own blind dog.

Autistic barbie and ADHD barbie, these can be ai voices, adjusted to fit onto any range of the spectrum.

anything goes in the pursuit of profit.

This would have a pretty big impact for a kid growing up with type 1.

As adults we might think its silly, but for a little girl with type 1 seeing a model with the same condition wouldn't make them feel like they're different or abnormal.

Pretty important in those formidable years.

I just felt a truckload of existential dread realizing that AI-generated memes are the Eternal September of my lifetime.

According to their most recent 10-Q Barbie sales have been flat YoY so I guess they felt like they had to do something.
