Ask HN: What dream did you give up on?

Inspired by the latest Brandon Stanton X post I'm curious what dream did the HN community give up on?

I wanted to create games on Unity and build a business there, but I changed my mind and became an open source developer.

Which develops various things, for example: https://github.com/Ferki-git-creator/phono-in-terminal-image...

I used to want to do a PhD in English Literature. I had a vague idea that it was my "calling" and that being a published academic would vanquish my insecurities.

It would have been a disaster. Academia looks miserable. I can achieve far more as a programmer, and I get paid enough to live a rich and fulfilling life on top.

Creating a video game.

One of my lack of talents, probably from autism, is absolutely no musical/artistic talent. No amount of practice gets me there for art/music.

To me, a video game is trivial to make from a programming point of view, but it's all art that holds me up.

But if you have noticed, AI 3d models, AI images, AI music, AI flavour text. I might theoretically be able to make a video game?

Provide link to Brandon Stanton X post. I don’t see any relevant recent posts in X by him.

"But a friend told me something, that really stuck with me. He said that everybody has to give up on certain dreams in life. And it’s true. The more people you meet, the more you see in the way of broken dreams. It seems like almost everyone is coming to terms with something they expected to happen, but didn’t. And there’s a comfort in that." https://x.com/humansofny/status/1942629822125216080?t=QrZxAo...
