Enter your phone number, get called in 30 seconds for a 2–3 minute AI-powered screening interview. https://prepin.ai/aiphonecall

Current MVP scope Right now it handles general screening questions and generates simple reports. We’re validating demand before building:

Technical screening libraries

ATS integrations

Custom question sets per role or company

Multi-language support

Who we’re looking for We’d love feedback from recruiters and startup founders who are (or soon will be) running hiring processes.

Request for feedback Please actually try the call first—I know it sounds gimmicky, but the voice quality will surprise you. Then let us know:

Did it feel natural?

Would you be comfortable being screened this way?

If you hire, could you see your team using this?

What needs improvement?

To see the full recruiter dashboard, leave your email on the page and we’ll send you the demo.

This is just an MVP to test the concept. Curious what HN thinks—future of recruiting or unnecessary automation?

I haven't tried the service, but I'd like to say that it feels like unnecessary automation. My understanding of screening calls is that they're not really there to handle custom questions; if that were the case, you might as well have the candidate fill an application form. And even if you build an automated solution, the person who answers the call can use an automated solution as well and neutralize the value.

The real reason, in my opinion, is that the caller checks how you answer the questions. ie do you sound like someone who can work well with other people in the team. That's it. And that's something that's hard for an AI to judge.

Apart from the AI getting stuck for at least 20 seconds, an impressive experience. More professional than 80% of screening calls I have received in the past. Did correctly understand and summarise my input, not much noticable delay - except when the AI was stuck.

Thanks for trying Prepin!

That 20-second hang bug has actually been resolved since you tested it. If you'd like to give it another shot, you should get the full smooth experience now - no more awkward silences. Really appreciate the feedback about it being more professional than most screening calls, that's exactly what we're going for!

Can I have my AI call your AI?

We could try :)

I'm working in this space, reach out to me and we'll talk. Entering the EU market with this is going to be extremely touchy, the privacy protection agencies are going to mow down your clients with fines if you're not _very_ careful....

I'd be happy to discuss this further and learn from your experience. Please reach out to me at oleh.savchuk@prepin.ai and we can schedule a short call to chat about navigating EU market entry properly. Really appreciate the warning!

If there is any 'decision' being made with that screening, you can't run this with GDPR. You can't have the 'machine' make a life-impacting decision such as employing someone, there is no 'explainability', no re-do by a human. Someone with time to spare can ramp up your legal costs in court, and they won't have to pay a dime/cent even if they lose.. because GDPR (also the EUDPS's people will have a party on your expense).

Also considering that your 'AI' collects and processes, voice, name, PII, perhaps financial data, etc... good luck with the DPIA!

You raise excellent points about GDPR compliance. Just to clarify - Prepin is a mock interview practice platform, not an actual hiring tool. Users practice with our AI to prepare for real interviews, so no employment decisions are being made. That said, you're absolutely right about data processing concerns - we still handle voice, PII, etc. during practice sessions. We'd definitely benefit from your expertise on proper GDPR compliance for AI-powered interview practice tools.

Would love to discuss the regulatory landscape further - please reach out to oleh.savchuk@prepin.ai when you have a chance.

Hey there, you have a few typos of your product name on the landing page. “Prpein”

Thank you so much! it's a great catch

It can potentially be used to discriminate against deaf applicants.

Genuine question: Could this be avoided by supporting TDD?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Telecommunications_device_for_...

Great point about accessibility. We're definitely committed to making Prepin inclusive for all users. TDD support is one option, and we're also exploring text-based interview modes and real-time transcription features. The goal is to ensure everyone can practice and improve their interview skills regardless of hearing ability. Thanks for bringing this up - accessibility should be built in from the start, not an afterthought.
