Show HN: Smart Silence – Auto-remind to silence your phone via geofencing
apps.apple.com
I just released Smart Silence on the App Store — it’s a privacy-first iOS app that helps you avoid your phone going off in quiet places like synagogues, churches, theaters, or meetings by reminding you to silence it at the right time and place.
It uses geofencing to detect when you arrive at or leave a Silent Zone and sends a notification prompting you to enable Do Not Disturb via a Shortcut. Due to iOS restrictions, the app can’t toggle DND automatically — but it gets you 95% of the way there with a single tap or automated Shortcut.
Highlights: • Geofence-based detection: minimal battery impact, no GPS polling • Smart, respectful DND reminders (not forceful or naggy) • Community-powered: users can mark quiet zones and share schedules • iOS Shortcut integration for fast, one-tap activation • No ads, no tracking, no account required
This came from a real-world need — helping people stay respectful in communal spaces without fiddling with settings. I’d love your feedback, especially from folks who care about mobile UX, location-aware automation, and building within iOS limitations.
