I love how scientifically minded people use soft language like “could” for situations where the evidence shows a clear causal relationship. For normal people out there you can feel free to add some subtext.
“The evidence is clear. It is already causing, and will continue to cause...”
Excessive "certainty" is a sign of arrogance or inflexible denial.
