We've seen ads destroy many ad-supported media - newspapers got corrupted by their advertisers, radio's payola scandals, TV, CATV (a.k.a. cable), Google's search business itself, Amazon marketplace. How will Google attempt to avoid the same fate that search suffered at the hands of SEO and adtech? Which raises an interesting question: how would we tell the difference between a pitiful AI and an advertiser-corrupted AI? Bogus results either case.
