US conservatives far more skeptical of science than previously thought

Nice to know that the UK Supreme Court has decided that 'woman' and 'sex' refer to biological concepts.

'sex' has always referred to a biological concept, there is nothing to dispute there. The disagreements typically only begin when people misappropriate the nominal meaning of 'gender', a sociological concept derived from the Latin generare and etymologically distinct from 'sex'.

Because people insist on ignoring simple definitions to wage culture war, we breed an ignorance cemented by perceived animosity. Orwell should have picked up on this; if he wanted people to say 2+2=5 then all he had to do is convince them that 4 is a queer number.

Skeptical is an euphemism here. They are full on rejecting science for ideological reasons. US conservatives are full into magical thinking, conspiracy theories and lies.

Being skeptical would be healthy and normal. That is not what is going on with US conservatives.

Being skeptical of "science" authorities is not the same thing as being skeptical of science.
