Some people think AI writing has a tell – the em dash

Some legit writers actually use the em dash — how else would it end up in the training data?

Plenty of people type the double-dash in its place —- and many autocorrect tools will just replace that with a proper em-dash character.

Apparently the way I was taught to write is how LLMs write. I’m really not looking forward to my humanity being denied on a regular basis as a result.

This article is a huge nothing-burger that seems to hinge on the sentence "some would-be AI sleuths claim that the em dash is seldom seen outside of AI text," which is just plain nonsense.
