It's Official, Switch 2 Joy-Con Will Not Feature Hall Effect Sticks

I had to look this up but “Hall effect sticks” are a new generation of joy cons that are going into the Xbox and PS5 controllers, Nintendo here is choosing to use an older technology that was more susceptible to joy con drift. Folks are worried the switch 2 will experience the same issue cause they didn’t upgrade the joycons.

Strange spin on it. I thought they were going to use tunneling magnetoresistance to mitigate mechanical wear:
