> features Google conception of reinventing how to boot linux yearly

Amen to this sentence. Can't keep up even on Pixel hardware, not to mention the zoo of other devices that do whatever they feel is best.

I was surprised, but at the same time not at all surprised, to find out that they not only reinvent Android UI libraries yearly, but also much lower level parts of their software.

(I build Android apps since 2011. I stopped following their updates since around 10 years ago. I still write Java, albeit modern versions, and use XML views. My apps are tiny and launch instantly. I'm also very controversial among the Android developer community.)

Sounds plausible. I was blown away when Apple Watch could run some of WebGL samples (such as Aquarium with artifacts) back in 2020.

This watch has more compute than some Android flagships from a decade ago. Anyone remember the Galaxy S2?

Fondly. It lives on a shelf next to my first phone, an HTC Evo with the slide keyboard

It’s WOAOA basically
