Is this a rust thing?

Not yet. But you can be the change you wish to see.

It can be if you want it to be https://github.com/ayrtonm/psx-sdk-rs

Linked youtube video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dSBNs3TeINc

Does it run Dark Souls? Time for crab.

Another example of everything evolving into crabs.

I think you meant, time for crab souls. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Another_Crab%27s_Treasure

But.. can you play rust on it?

Apparently yes: https://old.reddit.com/r/rust/comments/35ypb8/rust_running_o...

I imagine they're thinking of the video game https://www.reddit.com/r/playrust/ not the programming language :D

¿Por Qué No Los Dos?

Is this the rust mascot? Should I be upvoting because of rust?

In the context of crabs in tech, Realtek comes to mind first for me, but that might just be due to my age.

Reminded me of the album "Fat Of The Land" by The Prodigy

Giant Enemy Crab

I like the fact that it turns the console into a controller and an interesting one at that with both hands separated.

However the OG is just a good looking device, there is no need for this.

The post title butchers the article title which I think explains why this was necessary: "The Carcinisation of PlayStation Is Complete: Say Hello to ‘Playstacean’"

The original video's title was "I built a Playstacean".

The controller with two halves will be unusable. There will be nothing to hold the half steady while you try to hit buttons or move the stick.

Nintendo joycons beg to differ.

Most people have two hands

And in some ways it's even more "ergonomic", like a split keyboard.

No need for this? Your glib dismissal belies the passion and dedication involved in this genius masterwork. Nobody ever "needs" art, but surely it enriches our lives.
