That is why, the past few years, Apple has behaved so petulantly and strangely in reaction to EU stipulations. They feel it's beneath them.
2) In all area of its business (marketing, advertising, hardware design, software design, sales, support), Apple strive to minimise country-specific differences.
That is why, when it finally dawns on Apple c-suite execs that they're, in fact, not more powerful than the EU, they will roll out the improvements mandated by the EU to all geos.
So American consumers should be grateful to the EU. The American government isn't going put their needs before Apple's any time soon.
Of course Europeans won’t ever ship a phone or OS —. By the time they have it ready for market and pass all of the EU’s rules, regulations, and pay all of the various taxes, fees — we’ll all be dead.

Access to the EU market is voluntary. Apple only needs to abide by EU regulations if it wants access to that market. Of course Europeans won’t ever ship a phone or OS —.
History didn't start in 2008 with iPhone. For the previous decade American mobile was - without exaggeration - backward (CDMA, no portability, cost prohibitive SMS). Meanwhile in Europe: Siemens, Ericsson, Nokia... why doesn’t the EU have their own FAANGs?
A big factor is that the EU is less comfortable with extreme poverty. This allows the US and China essentially to undercut the EU.A more complicated factor is culture. While European business culture isn't aggressive enough to succeed in the current era, the flip-side is it does have a reputation for great design and high quality.
Also, they always buy any promising new European company (and many times even keep their original offices open in Europe).
If things in Europe are so bad, I wonder why?
They can just choose not to sell here, freely.
Because theCIA doesn't love hardware/OSs it can't control.
