Mistral AI is a research lab building the best open source models in the world

I use mistral-small-24b as my daily companion, and my AI project. It is truly amazing. The model is fast and does everything I need. I often feel the output of mistral's models are better than most of the other open models out there including the recently released gemma-3-27b.

I believe mistral just released Mistral Small 3.1, I can't wait to try it out.

There is also a reasoning variant from Nous Research which I've recently got up and running.

Mistral's model is in a class of their own. I'm inclined to try out their larger models via API. I wish they had a reranking model as well.
