GitHub account "404 User Not Found," but I can still log in–what happened?
"404 User Not Found."
At first, I thought my account was deleted, but I can still log in. However, to the rest of the world, it's like I never existed.
What I tried:
Searched GitHub documentation → Found that accounts can be flagged as fraudulent/malicious. Checked emails → No warning or notification from GitHub. Verified login → I can still access my repositories, but others cannot. Context:
I only use GitHub to back up my personal Python projects. No spam, no malicious code, no violations (to my knowledge). No idea why this happened. Questions:
Why would a GitHub account be flagged like this? Is there a way to appeal or restore public visibility? Has anyone else experienced this issue, and how did you resolve it? I don’t want to fight for a place that erased me without warning, so I’ve already switched to Gitlab, but I’d still like to understand what happened.
I am extremely annoyed because I have 54 repositories and have contributed to a few projects. I can not find a support email and in the past the never even respond to my emails. As stated I have been flagged and have not done anything. My website is on github pages and I need my website. They just want me to keep chatting with their stupid AI.
Any insights?
