Buy European Made – A directory of European products and services

Some alternatives that are listed on that website that aren't just "Better because of European" but better because they have better features/cheaper/otherwise, that they happen to be on the same continent is an extra plus. All of these are services/applications I rely on myself and can vouch for:

- DeepL - Leagues ahead of Google Translate and any other translation service I've tried. People who speak more than one language will most likely recognize how much better it is immediately.

- Proton Mail - Basically what gmail was when it first arrived, lightweight and simple email that mostly just works

- Migadu - When you need to setup email for a small/medium-sized organization

- Element - Decentralized alternative to Signal/Whatsapp. Can't say the UI/UX is top-notch yet, still a bit confusing for non-developers, but getting closer everyday.

- OpenStreetMap - Google/Apple Maps alternative built and maintained by volunteers. Usually really fast at updates when roads change, at least here in Spain.

- VLC - Well, not much can be added, probably the best media player out there.

- Blender - FOSS 3D suite/application that been around forever, but in the recent years started making huge progress to becoming a real alternative in the industry.

- Codeberg - For when you want to host FOSS on a 100% FOSS platform, instead of a for-profit platform (GitHub et al)

- Hetzer - Best and cheapest (but maybe not the most reliable) host for dedicated servers in Europe, has datacenters in Germany and Finland. Haven't used their other services but hearing good stuff about them too. Sometimes they have issues with reliability (network switches mostly afaik?) but tends to be fixed within an hour or two when it happened to me.

- Mullvad - Probably the strongest VPN out there in terms of possibility of them being nice with your data (the data they have at least)
