Making the Lumon Industries WoeMeter

I love when prop design goes above and beyond like this - working dials/gauges just look incredible. So cool that a project like this can come together in just 6 weeks.

This is awesome! Severance is such an incredible show. Just so much attention to detail everywhere.

I wonder how hard it would be to make a working Macro Data Refinement terminal.

You can start with refurbishing an old Data General Dasher terminal! (the inspiration for the MDR terminals in Severance)

Solid titanium side caps!? Did they just have some extra stock laying around? Love a good functional prop though!

Probably looking at the realm of $50/ea for the side caps. Damn

I don’t get this retro-futuristic trend in modern Sci-Fi …

With Severence specifically, it’s a “mystery box” type show, where we don’t really know much about the world and its history. Keeping the tech unrecognizably retro futuristic helps maintain that ambiguity of time and place.

Personally I love the aesthetics of the tech. Reminds me of 2001: A Space Odyssey.

I think it’s simply easier for prop designers to do retro-futuristic vs futuristic proper.

It’s hard to predict the future, but easy to predict the past.
