'Trump is abandoning Ukraine and wants a weaker EU': says Dominique de Villepin

It isn't a proxy war. It's a clear choice between right and wrong. Trump is choosing wrong.
- The US have pushed allied away (nobody trusts the US anymore, and I don't know which country would count the US as an ally today)
- The US have humiliated Ukraine and are destabilizing Europe (some of those ex allies)
- The US have threatened ex allies (including Europe, again) militarily
- The US are threatening partners (those ex allies) economically
In the last 2 months, the US have gone on a way to change most of their allies into enemies at an unprecedented speed.
Why should the US contribute to helping Europe against Russia's expansionism? In a world where the US have allies, that's obvious. In a world where the US want to be alone, it's less clear, but I would argue that destabilising Europe is not good for the economy, and hence for the average american. It's only good for the US oligarchs who are now running the country.
And that flushing away that status is a bad idea?
In Vietnam many Americans fought and died, would you say the same about this war?
Where do you get the idea that Ukraine is a dictatorship?
