They went through great efforts to frame any hesitation about using AI tools as being caused by fear basically. This training program was pitched in such a way to make it seem like anyone not embracing and using AI tools is backwards and old fashioned and behind the times, so it's time to "get with the program"
It's very discouraging
I don't think these tools are useful enough to spend my time on.
I would rather spend 20 minutes writing code than 19 minutes writing prompts to almost generate the right code that I can fix in 1 minute
Maybe one day this stuff will be useful to me
But by that time I imagine companies won't have much use for employees at all anymore, because AI will basically just replace us
I'm not even 40 yet. It is hard for me to imagine living another 40 years with the trajectory that the world is going
The future sucks a lot
Tangentially related - Aristotle noticed all of this and wrote about it in relation to plays in The Poetics ... except for the doomscrolling bit, that wasn't available yet.
He ties it even more deeply than "act, care" - he says it moves us towards virtue or vice.
We probably just need a platform we can freely curse and vent. Maybe this is a business idea.
The majority of people in the US are content. If you’re not content, your advice on how to reach contentment is not useful. But lots of online advice content is like this: I am unhappy; this is evidence of a society-wide problem.
You have to be an idiot to listen.
