a more realistic interpretation is that he doesn't decide, but he does lie a lot.

In more normal times, with a more normal president, I would agree. However, this particular president has shown an absolute lack of interest in the details. It would not surprise me (and is in line with Curtis Yarvin's suggestions of how the government should be run[1]) if Trump were just the executor of Musk's whims.

>Yarvin has been described as a "neo-reactionary", "neo-monarchist" and "neo-feudalist" who "sees liberalism as creating a Matrix-like totalitarian system, and who wants to replace American democracy with a sort of techno-monarchy". He has defended the institution of slavery, and has suggested that certain races may be more naturally inclined toward servitude than others. He has claimed that whites have higher IQs than black people, but does not consider himself a white nationalist. He is a critic of US civil rights programs, and has called the civil rights movement a "black-rage industry".

>Yarvin has influenced some prominent Silicon Valley investors and Republican politicians, with venture capitalist Peter Thiel described as his "most important connection". Political strategist Steve Bannon has read and admired his work. U.S. Vice President JD Vance "has cited Yarvin as an influence himself." Michael Anton, the State Department Director of Policy Planning during Trump's second presidency, has also discussed Yarvin's ideas. In January 2025, Yarvin attended a Trump inaugural gala in Washington; Politico reported he was "an informal guest of honor" due to his "outsize influence over the Trumpian right."

He advocating impeachment for judges who rule contrary to Trump.

I'm not sure asserting he lies quite explains the Cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs vibe I'm getting.

Fiveteen judges have been impeached. Since 1803! [1] It's understandable if you disagree with a judges orders, but if Musk is taking this as a reason to call for impeaching judges he shows a clear lack of understanding of how justice works.

The whole administration is showing a lack of understanding of how our entire country, and indeed the current global order, works.

Here's Musk today as the person in the room saying who will get to have a job and who will not in the United States government:

"Whoever is doing a job that is essential, and doing that job well"

Any and all non-essential jobs will be let go, according to Musk. Who is the only person standing at a press conference with Trump sitting at the table.
