Reddit is now using AI to generate answers from pieces of past user posts

The cycle is completed. AI verifying data with AI that verified data using AI.

Well, that’s one way to change things up. I guess Reddit is trying really hard to stay relevant with Google and OpenAI providing their answers without the traffic flow. This will only make the website feels less authentic, Reddit has always been about people sharing their thoughts, not algorithms spitting out answers.

Also if the answers are always based on the average of what's already popular, it's going to be harder to find and foster unique or niche discussions. Not sure how that will pan out, but I hope Reddit is taking this into account.

I google search w/ reddit because it provides a selection of random users' opinions. Real opinions free of any SEO or ads, summarised by my brain using my personal set of weights and priorities, and my personal well-oiled bullshit detector.

Seems to be a play to out-compete Google. It seems slower though. I don't like the sources UI either, it's much harder to use (and should be more up-front)
