On vt+ape... avoid it. Sam/ACME it's far superior to the Unix cruft. rc+awk+bind+listen+namespaces (and /dev/draw and friends) can do far more than Unix.
Also, NPE it's preferred to APE.
They should have included Plan 9's acme, which is also part of plan9ports (Plan 9 running in Unix userspace).
