Burning in woman's legs turned out to be slug parasites migrating to her brain

I know when traveling, a lot of people recommend using a produce washing agent. I was curious to look this up to see what they're doing.
EcoLab has their safety data sheet published here[0].
You mix it with water and it contains:
- Lactic Acid (reduces pH, likely killing some pathogens)
- Sodium hydrogensulfate (also reduces pH)
- Dodecylbenzenesulfonic acid, sodium salt (food safe surfactant to loosen microbes)

Is there a radiation treatment or similar for lettuce? Can it simply be washed thoroughly?
I don't even like it.
Yes. Lettuce which has been sterilized with ionizing radiation has the radura logo.
The plants get sanitized regularly with cleaning chemicals made to kill everything and have to adjust the frequency based on the number of animals slaughtered. IIRC doing the cleaning procedure more than once a day is not unusual for a large slaughterhouse. You just can’t get that kind of cleanliness from the entire produce supply chain, especially when it’s not plastic wrapped like meat.
Undercooked meat also tends to have a much smaller blast radius like a restaurant, whereas an e-coli outbreak can contaminate produce that goes out to a large number of grocery stores and customers.
And after all, there's no guarantee it came from the lettuce and not from the seafood, as they say in the article.
Even? Isn't it best lettuce?
Underbleached lettuce.
> The worms migrate through the blood or along peripheral nerves
How does a worm move along peripheral nerves, physically? Now that I think about it, I don't know exactly what a nerve is like. Is it hollow? Is it filled with fluid like blood vessels?

Chunkier looking than I'd expected.
May parasites stay away from you.
There are 1.4 million people who live in Hawaii and several hundred thousand who visit every month.
So statistically, you're pretty safe. :)
You're probably more likely to die on the car ride to/from the airport than something like this, statistically.
Don't swim in warm fresh water.
Don't breathe in a dry building that might have mice.
And if you really want to worry about million-times more likely concern: do not cross the street.
Hawaii is lovely, and well worth a visit. I just wish it wasn't so strategically important and in such relative proximity to sketchy dictators on the other side of the ocean. :)
I know. Stop telling me about them!
I don't understand people are stupid enough to eat raw sea food ... Even salads can be dangerous these days.
