Govt Workers Retirement Papers Processed Manually Underground in Limestone Mine

The press conference with Trump and Musk yesterday, transparently discussing DOGE, was great. It is really interesting how different the reporting around DOGE is versus just hearing from them directly. I came away with a positive opinion of the effort.

One of the things they talked about is this same limestone mine and its effect on the delayed processing of retirement payments. I can’t believe it is real. But I guess it is.

How is this real? Insane. It is a natural result of people operating in a vacuum with no accountability, yet no real power to make things better. The federal government is a nightmare bureaucracy.
