Maybe the concepts surrounding Frank Herbert's "Butlerian Jihad" are actually true?

Somehow, it feels like this is by design. To further numb the brains of anyone who could question, let alone challenge, the gov / ruling elites.

From the article, this is based on self-reported confidence, not some kind of testing or measurement of critical thinking skills. This could just boil down to feeling less confident with tasks you do less, which is sort of obvious.
