The First Thing That Ever Sold Online Was Pizza (2018)

Iconically, the 1994 version of dominos.com had much better usability. It looked cleaner and simpler than today.

I just used the present-day version the other day, and somehow Chromium on my laptop rendered the font so tiny I could not read anything (CSS issue? Not sure, but it does not happen with other sites). Not to mention everything was cluttered.

I wish sites could go back to earlier, simpler Web designs. If you want complicated, offer an alternative "simple view" or "text only" site.

EDIT: On a more philosophical note, I'm glad pizza and books were among the first things sold online; that shows people got their priorities right!

Somewhat related was Pizzatool, a demo program for the NeWS gui toolkit. It wasn't "on-line" - it just faxed or e-mailed an order - and you couldn't actually pay for your order.
