Denmark will be looking at European solidarity differently, and should us/eu relations over things like tarrifs come to a vote, voting will be affected. Do you think they will vote against tarrifs fearing strong man tactics, or vote in favour to show they won't give in to strong man tactics?
People joke about Putin, dogs and Merkel. I don't personally think that played well for Russia longterm. I don't personally think being rude over national territory will play well for the US foreign affairs function longterm. Expressing a strategic interest is one thing. Asserting dominance as a cash bargaining tool another.
But I have little doubt it will be sold inside a circuit as proof of strength. Just as "make your goods here or pay tarrifs" is, despite economists agreeing who actually pays the tarrif.
