Odd that Waymo is even in the headlines here, given its relative non-involvement. That’s click-baity sensationalism; the real story should focus on the people involved.

If anything, it’s more an indication of why autonomous vehicles should gain wider acceptance… this type of thing wouldn’t have happened without a human behind the wheel.

Definitely not the Waymo's fault. Someone was driving 98 MPH in San Francisco's SOMA district. 7-car collision, two human fatalities. The Waymo was stopped at a red light, with no one inside.
