Let's Map Halal Restaurants on OpenStreetMap (OSM)
Have you ever struggled to find halal restaurants in your city or while traveling? I believe we can make this easier for everyone by mapping halal restaurants on OpenStreetMap (OSM) – a free and open-source platform that allows anyone to contribute and access geographic information.
What is OpenStreetMap (OSM)? OSM is like the Wikipedia of maps. It’s created and maintained by a global community of contributors. You can add restaurants, cafes, and even grocery stores that serve halal food so that Muslims everywhere can benefit!
Why Map Halal Restaurants? 1⃣ Help Muslims easily find halal food options. 2Create a centralized, global database accessible to everyone.
How You Can Contribute:
Visit OpenStreetMap and create an account.
Add restaurants in your area that serve halal food (make sure to confirm their halal status).
Use the tag halal to mark them as halal on the map.
Need Help? If you're new to mapping or need assistance, feel free to ask in this thread! There are plenty of tutorials available, and the OSM community is always happy to help.
