> Anduril, a leader in autonomous systems and weapons manufacturing, today announced it has selected Columbus, Ohio as the location of Arsenal-1, its first hyperscale manufacturing facility. Arsenal-1 will redefine the scale and speed that autonomous systems and weapons can be produced for the United States and its allies and partners. This is a monumental and essential step toward rebuilding America’s defense industrial base, strengthening America’s warfighting capabilities, and enhancing deterrence amid rising international threats.

>Anduril’s commitment to agile, responsive manufacturing has already been demonstrated globally. Arsenal-1 in Ohio will join Anduril’s other factories including our solid rocket motor factory in Mississippi, our robotic submarine facility in Rhode Island, our launched effects factory in Georgia, our XL-AUV factory in Australia and production facilities in California.

Literally building an exploding drone factory

> The foundation of Arsenal-1 is Arsenal OS, an integrated digital software platform that integrates the design, development, and mass production stages for all Anduril products.

Does this make use of Haskell and/or NixOS?

Haskell, yes. No idea if NixOS.

Anduril sponsored a Nix convention, so guessing they do use it.

Great. More weapons and destruction.

I, for one, am glad that I live in a country that's willing to commit atrocities and hide them from me so that I can peacefully sit on my ass and have all my goods and entertainment delivered straight to my various orifices.

Good. We need brand new defense tech to contain aggressive nations like China.

The "aggressive nation" of China has not been militarily active since 1979. The US has killed several million people (overwhelmingly civilians) in 17 wars and other military interventions since then, directly and by proxy.

I am not sure how you’re defining “militarily active”. China forcefully took over Tibet in 1950. Xinjiang was even earlier. But they’ve had many other acts of aggression since then. Encroachment on territory of Bhutan. Encroachment on territory of India. Disputes with Japan. Violation of treaties surrounding Hong Kong. Do these not count as militarily active?

But even if it were true, I don’t see what it would change in terms of geopolitical strategy. The US stands up for free speech, civil liberties, and other values that are compatible with free liberal societies. China is literally a dictatorship and practices dystopian authoritarian tactics like social credit scores, censorship, labor camps, and all of that. A number of areas (Tibet, Xinjiang, Hong Kong, Bhutan, Taiwan) need to be freed and protected from their control or threats. China threatens even more areas in the future, with the new dam they’re proposing in Tibet that will cut off water to countries like Bangladesh or India.

Yeah, we saw pretty well how the US "stands for civil liberties and free speech" in the last few years. Also, you might need to adjust your tinfoil hat, it seems a bit too tight.

I agree there have been some missteps in recent years. But it is nowhere near how China operates regularly, by design. Not even within an order of magnitude.

How do you know how it operates? Have you been to China? Or do you just uncritically gulp down state propaganda about it, like most Americans?

Chat please think carefully before replying. 1950 happened before 1979.

You mean 1979-1991 when china invaded vietnam so the khmer rouge could continue genociding cambodians?

I, for one, welcome our AI overlords.
