Holy shit.

>Dana White, President and CEO of UFC®.

He is Trump representative. Old friend and dirty businessman.

He managed to make the first and only successful pro sport outside of the NFL and NBA and MLB in a century.

As long as the shareholders gets what they want, who cares?

As if board directors are chosen for other reasons than connections.

You'll need to elaborate on your allegations to convince anyone here and what FB missed in their diligence.

I don't accuse FB.

I'm fascinated by the downfall of the United States into Banana rebublic way to do business.

Meta drops fact-checking and loosens its content moderation rules https://techcrunch.com/2025/01/07/meta-drops-fact-checking-a...

Already adjusting for the new rules.

We are truly privileged to witness the self-destruction and downfall of an empire. Take good notes so that future generations can learn what really happened and why.

mistakes of the past usually just get repeated, instead of being learnt from. Buy maybe further down the road an AI will benefit from the lessons

Why not both?

I find the big push towards supporting and white washing a second Trump term fairly astounding because it feels like Trump is really good at scapegoating the people around him.

I don’t outright disagree with most of the things Mark says (his words not my impression of the significance of them), but I do feel like Trump is going to push everyone around him to cross their own ethical/moral boundaries. Not everyone who is supporting Trump right now can be a winner, almost definitionally.

I get that you absolutely hate Trump, but it's causing blindness.

To my point, your narrative doesn't fit reality.

A lot of these people were riding with Trump in 2016. Zuckerberg was already friends with Dana White and spotlighting MMA before endorsing Trump.

I dunno, JD Vance almost entirely exists because tech felt they couldn’t trust Trump. Is Dana White really relying on Trump or just sort of an affiliate of the MAGA brand. I think you can ride on the coattails without getting to close.

In a way I think the problem is the opposite of what I’m describing as well. Mark Zuckerberg will never be MAGA and in the game of thrones succession planning that is currently going on, I wonder if Mark being all in on Trump dilutes the brand. It’s kinda funny actually, Mark Zuckerberg as MAGA leader? Wtf is a MAGA that Mark Zuckerberg is part of.

> I get that you absolutely hate Trump

Actually I may like him the best of most post-modern MAGA or whatever you want to call this beast that’s been created. I know that the whole President Musk thing is a joke, but I think there is some truth to the idea that Trump is the least important figure in the new right.

But this leads me to my really theory, MAGA as defined by Steve Bannon is dead, a normal people working class movement co-opted by the very billionaire elitists they were railing against. It would be ironic if they didn’t even end up pardoning the January 6 insurrectionists.
