Is Scrooge Our New Role Model?

I don't think Scrooge is a role model for most people. Most people want enough income to afford a house and raise a family. Scrooge is a role model for the 1% wealthiest people alive because they seem to want more money and more power and are never satisfied with what they have.

This kinda stuff needs to be scaled by something like GDP per capita, or at least adjusted for inflation, to have any real historical meaning.

For example, when "Millionaire" was coined it meant a very different slice of the population than today, with an inflation difference of ~8x.
