I’d estimate most Unix distributions are used in one 3 ways:
- a technical application maintained by a tech savvy admin or a team of them, this would primarily be server usage. - desktop usage by a developer. - a restricted installation on older hardware for a non-tech savvy person. Their user account probably shouldn’t be given permission to install new software so none of this has any relevance to them.
You average non-technical user certainly isn’t running Debian.
