Ask HN: What should I do with careercode.it?
I’ve been working on a tool that analyzes job postings to identify which skills are most in demand at different experience levels (junior, mid, senior) and helps developers see where to focus next.
Here’s the core of it:
It breaks down trends like “Top 10 skills for junior backend roles” or “Most requested tools for mid-level frontend devs.” It can suggest 2 specific skills that would provide the most value for someone looking to improve their marketability, based on their profile. The goal is to cut through the noise—especially for beginners or those switching roles—so they have a clearer picture of where to focus.
I launched it a little while ago, got some early feedback, but growth has slowed, and I feel like I’m missing something.
I’d love to get your thoughts on: What would make this kind of tool genuinely useful for you?
How can I better connect with developers who would benefit most from it?
Are there specific features or data points that would help you better understand job trends?
I’ve noticed a lot of developers get overwhelmed by vague or bloated job listings. My hope is to give clearer, actionable direction to those navigating the job market.
Would really appreciate any feedback or ideas you might have. How do you decide which skills to learn or focus on?
