Why are so many Americans acting like a pack of ghouls?

it is extremely difficult to attempt to point out that you “understand” why this tragedy occurred without sounding like you are “pro-murder.” even the most vocal “he got what he deserved” are not really saying “let’s solve every problem by murdering those we deem responsible” but there really is no way to say “you F with people long enough you gonna get F’ed” without sounding like you are “pro-murder”

This is the society the wealthy and powerful have built, and now they too have to live in it. Enjoy.

Seems like a nothing opinion piece offering no new insights.

Please explain to me how 455 adults is a reasonable sample size.

You think that this is an American treat. But no, it isn't, you just didn't pay attention. It's a human treat. Welcome to the internet - it was always like that.

Sometimes you see what others want you to see. Sometimes you see what's really there. Once the latter disappears completely, that will be more worrisome.

"Count De Monet: I have come on the most urgent of business. It is said that the people are revolting!

"King Louis: You said it; they stink on ice."

As always, Mel Brooks captures the vibe perfectly.

I normally tend to attribute these kinds of things to a rise in socialism/marxism, but to be totally fair I do think at least to one degree or another social-media is perhaps simply amplifying something which has more or less been around since the very beginning. Much like the scene from Monty Python's Holy Grail where the peasant goes off on a tirade about "being repressed" [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eKIyVnoZDdQ]. Populism is really nothing new! Nonetheless it is very off-putting (not to mention incredibly discouraging) to see so many people cheering on someone's death like a hungry mob of vigilantes. Where on Earth has all the civility gone? We seem to be living in a very cynical era indeed....
