If each chips in one million dollars then perhaps, collectively, "Big Tech" can buy itself freedom from regulation.
On Tuesday Trump nominated Andrew Ferguson to be commissioner at the FTC. Ferguson posted on X following the nomination: "At the FTC, we will end Big Tech's vendetta against competition and free speech."
This move by Zuck is too far away from normal lines of power and influence he operates in, it will be seen a desperate and weak. Zuck cucked himself.

The money has to be spent on the event, so it doesn't go to the President's pocket or even to their campaign fund. So it's not limited the way other political donations are.
Still... Trump has a history of misusing funds, including over 30 criminal convictions, and more for his staff. If I were the FEC, I'd be keeping an eye it. But apparently everything the President does is legal, so it's probably not the effort.
